IYENGAR YOGA
Iyengar Yoga is a method of practice and instruction developed by B.K.S. Iyengar. It is a systematic and dynamic practice, with an emphasis on precise alignment and sequencing. The use of props in Iyengar Yoga help one adjust or support oneself in the correct positions required so that one can work in a range of motion that is safe and effective. Classes are progressively sequenced to cultivate awareness of the fundamentals of alignment which leads to increased energy flow, mental clarity, and peace of mind.

IYENGAR BEGINNER: suitable for students who are new to yoga. These classes will focus on standing poses, basic seated poses, and twist. Shoulderstand will be introduced.

IYENGAR MIXED LEVEL: This is a multi-level class suitable for students with an on-going yoga practice. Students will be given different ways of practicing a wide range of poses appropriate for their level of experience and skill.

IYENGAR INTERMEDIATE: Suitable for students with a consistent Iyengar yoga practice. Students must have knowledge of and practice the standing poses and shoulderstand with confidence. In this class yoga practitioners will investigate backbends, forward bends, twists, arm balances, and inversions (including full-arm balance, forearm balance, shoulderstand with variations, and head balance).

ANANDA YOGA
Ananda (sanskrit word meaning Joy or Bliss) Yoga (union) is a classical style of yoga which seeks to raise one's level of consciousness while harmonizing the body, mind and spirit. It uses a variety of yogic techniques to achieve this. This is a powerful, yet gentle, practice suitable for everyone---all ages, all body types, all fitness levels. Ananda Yoga is gentle for beginners, becoming more challenging with experience.

Some of what you can expect in an Ananda Yoga class:

*Pranayama - breath (or energy) control techniques

*Energization exercises - special energy control techniques developed by Master Yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda (author of famed "Autobiography of a Yogi”), to help the practitioner increase, focus, and control the life force (energy). These techniques are unique to Ananda Yoga.

*Yoga postures (asanas) - demonstrated traditional yoga postures - each paired with its own affirmation designed to reinforce the posture's natural effect on one's state of consciousness. The use of these affirmations in conjunction with postures is also unique to Ananda Yoga.

*Guided visualization

*Guided brief meditation

We invite you to experience Ananda Yoga.
